By piece do you mean of his artwork or his literary work?
My favorite art piece is the one I bought a few months back, "There are organizing principles to the universe which we can no more understand than my dog can"
My favorite literary work....Slapstick.
Although I'm writing my thesis on God Bless You Mr. Rosewater so that has a big place in my heart too. If you really wanna get some discussion going, here's my thesis topic, and you guys can tell me what you think: Eliot Rosewater's name is obviously a combination of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Barry Goldwater....the most liberal and the most conservative of politicians of Vonnegut's early adult life...Eliot Rosewater goes insane not because of his family tragedies and his inability to deal with experiences, but because of the political dichotomy of American politics. He's trying to figure out his family's conservative (Goldwater) stance (which can also be seen as early in FDRs life or his family) and his own liberal ideas in wanting to help others.
I actually haven't read that book yet.
